"Excellent
manipulation of Thai massage techniques. Her movements fluid and precise, very thorough, deep body work. Before Toks started,
I had very little movement in my neck and shoulder regions. After the treatment I experienced a great deal of flexibility.
I was very impressed by her skills and confidence to the degree that I allowed myself to trust her and I experienced a profound
surrendering."
Namonyah Soipan, Clinical Psychologist, Shamanic Therapist USA
"Fantastic. I liked the thumb work on my back. Very
astonishing as it felt like some electrical device. I feel awake, energetic and relaxed all at once and I was tired and fed-up
when I came in!" Head

History of Thai Massage Originally,
it is traced to the historical figure, Shree Jivaka, “Father Doctor”, sage, physician, friend and doctor to Lord
Buddha; about 5th Century BC, 25,000 years old! Passed on orally from generation to generation,
this ancient sacred art was practiced by Buddhist monks in Thailand to balance their vital physical and emotional energies;
as well as impart healing touch on the energy body and mind.
It is the cultural result of several ethnic influences including Tibet, China and India, shared with
family and friends. As a result of this cultural and ethnic influence it became a combination of many forms of ancient massage e.g. Tui Na massage and manipulation [China], Ayurvedic
massage [India], Shiatsu Massage [Japan] and Yoga [India].
What is Thai Massage? Nuad Bo’rarn means Thai Massage Nuad, Thai word, means touch with the purpose of imparting healing. Bo’ran, Sanskrit, means something
ancient, sacred and revered.
Touch
in Thai Massage Thai Massage is a sacred ancient revered
hands-on healing body-work, where touch is used for the sole purpose of imparting healing on the ‘energy body’
and mind of the client. It has been described as a martial art of healing.
The touch involved in Thai Massage is firm, gentle and flowing.
Thai Massage involves firm holdings, gentle stretching, soft palming, deep thumbing, paced rocking, deep compressions
and centred pressings. The movement can be gentle, sudden or deep. The pace can be slow,
medium or fast. Everything is adapted to the client’s requirements at the time of the session.
You can decide whether you want an energising and/or rigorous
session or a slow and gentle session.
The result always encourages deep release leading to a rejuvenating, invigorating,
relaxing feel- inspiring the soul and tranquilising the body. This powerful and unique form of massage
which is fun to receive has been known to manifest instant positive results because it combines elements of yoga, shiatsu
and acupressure in the session.
Before a Session Before the session do not eat a heavy meal.
What should I wear? The receiver wears loose fitting comfortable clothing which allows ease of movement and gentle
stretching as they lie on a floor mat or cotton futon on the floor. No oils are used. Toks
does all the movement as there is a passive range of movement on the part of the receiver as the body is stretched and moved
about in a variety of yoga-like positions. It is like doing yoga without having to do it yourself!
What will happen on my first visit? A full medical history will be taken on your first visit and will
be updated regularly. Each session is tailored to your individual needs and requirements.
Who should not have Thai Massage Certain people will not benefit from Thai massage.
They include: pregnant women, people with open wounds, infectious skin diseases or rashes; people
prone to blood clots and heart disease; people who have just had surgery or chemotherapy or radiation. A
letter from your doctor will be required if you have any of these conditions.
What happens if I feel uncomfortable during the session? If you feel uncomfortable during the Thai massage let Toks know immediately.
At any time you can stop the session.
How long is a session? Each
session can last from 60 to 90 to 120 minutes. The choice as usual is yours.
How does it work? Oriental diagnosis says that we have meridian channels flowing throughout our body, which carry life
force known as Chi or Prana. Any blockages in the flow of chi in the meridians cause dis-ease, discomfort
and pain. Any opening in the flow of chi leads
one to feel energised. Thai massage helps to stimulate and rebalance the body’s natural flow of energy.
It gradually invites the body to slowly open and release. Blockages in the energy system are released
leading to increased vitality, flexibility and a greater sense of well-being because it increases the range of motion in the
body, loosens tight muscles, diminishes pain and reduces swelling. The palming and thumbing on the meridians releases energy blockages and stagnation
held in the body. This creates flow within the mind, body and spirit of the receiver, helping to restores
balance and energy and life force.
This sacred martial art of healing touch works on the meridians combining elements
of yoga, shiatsu, reflexology and acupressure in the rocking, pressing, stretching and compression techniques.
Hands, forearms, elbows, legs,
knees and feet are used to work on the body and its meridians. The deep holding, point pressure , palming,
thumbing and breathing help to create deep internal cleansing, detoxification and strengthening. This is
a flowing rejuvenating massage that opens up the body’s natural energy flow. Every muscle and joint is treated and stretched in a very gentle way that increases
range of movement and flexibility.
Working in a meditative and concentrated state of mind, Toks uses stretching, pressing, compression, rocking
and holding to transmit healing through flowing touch, bringing about inner balance with harmony to the mind, body and spirit
of the receiver; who is comfortably clothed. The inner peace is brought about by Toks’s flowing touch,
using her feet, knees, elbows, forearms and hands on the body of the receiver.
Meditation in Motion Thai
massage induces a meditative state of mindfulness, inner calm and
peace, encouraging concentration, clarity, perception and intuition in both the receiver and the giver. This is meditation in motion for Toks; for at the end of
the session, she, as well as, the receiver, feels energised and relaxed. There is oneness in the giving
and receiving. The receiver experiences
the joy of receiving and enjoys receiving the support, nourishment, care, energy, healing, ease and attention.
The giver experiences the joy of giving and enjoys giving generously, lovingly, kindly, warmly and compassionately.
A very healing experience in the meditative silence generated.
How often should I have Thai Massage? Depending
on your timetable, make a commitment to your self, your mind and body. Remember prevention is better than
cure. Start a stress buster campaign with regular treatments. Commit to yourself for
a period of 3 months. Experience and enjoy Thai Massage once a week or twice a month.
After the initial period of 3 months note the difference in your energy level and your physical movements.
Regular treatment eases range of muscle movement; helps maintain harmony and balance; as well as, stops future stress
building up.
